Businessman offers meals for Liberia's inmates

Liberian-based Indian businessman who has been giving out free hot meals to people affected by the coronavirus pandemic has extended his gesture to the largest prison in the capital.

Upjit Singh Sachdeva, popularly known as Mr Jeety told the BBC he was "doing God’s work" by providing food.

His team is popular especially in the slums where they have been feeding communities.

Mr Jeety says he will cater to all inmates in the overcrowded Monrovia Central Prison which, like almost all other post-war government facilities, is faced with a lot of challenges.

He told the BBC that he "felt the need of identifying with inmates to help in the transformation process".
