Burkina Faso confirms two cases of coronavirus
A couple in Burkina Faso have become the first in the country to be infected with the coronavirus, the health ministry has confirmed.
The man, 73, and woman, 57, recently returned from a holiday to France in February. They tested positive for the virus on Monday and have been placed into isolation, authorities say.
A third individual, who was reportedly in close contact with the couple, has also been placed under observation.
Burkina Faso is now the sixth sub-Saharan African nation to report a confirmed case of the virus.
Most recent estimates suggest that there are now 100 confirmed coronavirus cases across Africa.
