Covid-19: Ghana leader eases restrictions

Ghana President Nana Akufo-Addo has announced a fresh easing of coronavirus restrictions.

Gatherings in places of worship will now last for two hours from one hour, but congregants must wear face masks and maintain social distancing, the president said in a televised address.

Tourist sites and attractions and open-air drinking spots have also been allowed to reopen.

"The management of these facilities are tasked to enforce enhanced hygiene and social distancing protocols," the president said.

Beaches, pubs, cinemas, and nightclubs however remain closed until further notice.

The president went into a two-week self-isolation period in early July after one of his aides contracted the virus.
