Nigerian Police Probe Death of Afrobeats Singer MohBad

The Lagos state government has opened an investigation into the death of Afrobeats star Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as MohBad.

Lagos State Police Commissioner Idowu Owohunwa has ordered a thorough investigation and set up a 13-man special investigative team to exhume the singer's body and carry out an autopsy.

MohBad, 27, died on September 12, 2023 in a hospital in Lagos. The exact circumstances of his death have not been made public, but the news has shocked his fans and colleagues. Nigerian celebrities and aggrieved fans of MohBad are taking to the streets to demand justice for the late singer.

There have been suggestions that the singer had been bullied by the music industry, with outrage directed at his former boss, Naira Marley. The two parted ways in 2022 after disagreements. Marley has called for a thorough probe into MohBad's death and pledged to assist with "uncovering any foul play or injustice".

Naira Marley's music has since been banned on some radio stations until further notice.
