Sixty killed in Nigeria northern region attacks

The Nigerian authorities say more than 60 people have been killed in a wave of attacks across the north of the country. 

More than 30 villagers died in a raid by bandits in Kaduna state. 

Criminal gangs attacked five towns and set fire to military camps in Sokoto, also in the north-west. 

They killed 17 members of the security forces and two civilians. 

In the north-eastern state of Borno, soldiers and vigilantes died when suspected Islamists fired rockets at their convoy and a military vehicle drove over an explosive device.
