Anti-Corruption Judge’s Home Burgled in Sierra Leone

The home of Justice Biobele Georgewill was this week broken into by unidentified individuals.

The judge is currently chairing three commission of inquiry into alleged corruption and abuse of office under the former APC government. 

While the judge slept the criminals removed his laptop from the property, which is understood to contain personal and state confidential information, along with some other items.

Commenting on the incident the spokesperson for the commissions, Mohamed Sulaiman Massaquoi confirmed that the judge was not hurt during the burglary.

A statement in Massaquoi’s name reads:

“The Attorney General and Minister of Justice was notified and immediately requested in the early hours of this morning a full scale criminal probe into the matter. The Sierra Leone Police have commenced the investigation and will leave no stone unturned. A team was dispatched from the Commission Secretariat to the scene of crime to get first hand information on the situation. 

Meanwhile, the proceedings of the Commissions of Inquiry will continue unabated.”
