Liberia: President Weah releases coronavirus song
Liberia’s President George Weah has lent his voice to a song raising awareness about the coronavirus pandemic.
The former professional footballer already owns his own recording studio in the capital Monrovia and reportedly started working on the single before the outbreak had even reached Liberia.
There are now three confirmed cases of coronavirus in Liberia.
In the song, Mr Weah advises the public to wash their hands, as well as providing other information about preventing the spread of the virus and recognising its symptoms.
The chorus is sung by gospel singers, who say “We must all rise, let’s stand together to fight corona”.
It is assumed that the lyric is meant metaphorically, as health officials advise that people stand two meters away from one another to avoid spreading the virus.
