Nigeria: president’s daughter self-isolates after visiting UK

A daughter of Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari is self-isolating as a precaution against the coronavirus after returning from the UK on Thursday.

First Lady Aisha Buhari said her daughter had not shown any symptoms of the virus but that health officials had advised her to go into self-isolation as she had returned from a “high burden” country. 

Mrs Buhari has also shut her own office as some members of staff had also recently returned from the UK. 

On Wednesday, Nigeria announced that it would be restricting travel from the UK, US and 11 other highly-infected states in a bid to curb the spread of the virus.

Four new cases were reported on Thursday, bringing the total number of infected in Nigeria to 12.
