Google Introduces Local Accent For Nigerians

Google has introduced an option for Nigerians to hear a local accent when using the Google Maps application.

The move will address problems the application previously had with the pronunciation of local names.

In addition several new features have been added to improve usability in Nigeria and the region including new Street View imagery, Gallery Go, Google Go updates, Google Lens and Bolo, and a Nigerian culinary experience from Google Arts and Culture.

On announcing the upgrades Google indicated that these features would also soon be made available in Benin, Ghana, Rwanda, Togo and Uganda.
