Fake Reports Circulate Of Gorilla Eating $22,000

The governor of Kano state in Nigeria has dismissed reports that missing 6.8 million naira ($22,000) had been eaten by a gorilla after reports circulated in local media.

The reports claimed that a gorilla at the Kano Zoological Gardens was at the centre of a financial probe into the matter. However, Kano governor Abdullahi Ganduje has set the record straight, stating that the money was in fact taken by armed robbers. Ganduje has ordered the state’s anti-corruption commission to investigate the matter.

Ganduje described reports that a gorilla was responsible for the disappearance of the cash as “junk journalism,” stating that there is now gorilla in the zoo.

In 2018 a Nigerian clerk working at the Nigerian examination board was suspended after she told auditors a snake had been responsible for the disappearance of 36 million naira.
